Drapery Workroom Fabricator:

Window Works Studio is an established window treatment company with an in-house workroom, fabricating custom, luxury window treatments and bedding. We are growing and need to expand our amazing team of window treatment fabricators.  

The ideal candidate needs to have basic sewing skills and attention to detail. They must have a willingness to learn new techniques and methods. Great communication and organizational skills will be essential to work effectively in our fast-past environment.  Training will be provided on the Window Works Studio’s proven method to fabricate these custom items. This position gives the opportunity to be creative, and work with beautiful textiles. As a custom workroom, each product is different, making each day unique. This makes for both a challenging and rewarding work environment. 

Possible Hours:

  • Part-time: 15 to 20 hours per week, (TBD)

  • $14/hour- $20/hour depending on experience

 Responsibilities 

  • Fabricate various projects including window treatments, bedding and cushions, following detailed work orders and fabrication processes set by Window Works Studio
  • Use of various industrial sewing machines, boiler irons and small power tools in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Keep a daily time log for each job by logging into Quickbooks time at the beginning of each shift. Add brief notes on steps performed for each job. Logs into different jobs throughout the day as needed to document the time spent on each project.
  • Puts away supplies and equipment, sweeps the work area, and vacuums as needed.
  • As supplies are becoming low in quantity, make requests on the calendar board.
  • Communicates any problems with equipment as soon as a problem arises.
  • Quality control check for all items fabricated.
  • Folding, pressing, bagging, and tagging completed items.
  • Communicate with the workroom manager and other team members, making sure details of each project are clearly understood. 
  • Loading bolts of fabric and completed items.

 

Qualifications 

  • Experience sewing, measuring, and working with fabrics; drapery workroom experience is a plus.
  • Ability to calculate, measure, and plan products with accuracy. Strong math skills. 
  • Willingness to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Strength to carry heavy bolts of fabric and completed projects.
  •  Ability to stand for long periods of time.
